Often times people say to a friend "I know you are alone, but I wish you weren't sad. I have also heard "if she/he smiled a little more perhaps he/she would not be so alone." So I ask, is a person destined to be alone as long as they remain sad? Will a person always feel sad when they are alone?
First to the alone because they are sad. Hmmmm??? What about "Misery does love company."? Wouldn't that mean that people would be drawn to someone sad? Would not "like minds" be attracted to their sadness and therefore surround the sad person? In that way of thinking, and i am only using the saying that has been passed down for centuries I am sure, then no sad person would ever be alone...
On the other side of the coin, because a person is alone, does that mean they are sad? I for one can survive nicely for quite sometime without someone with me all the time. I enjoy my quiet time, my alone time and find that sometimes, it is Just what the doctor ordered. Being bipolar certainly helps to make me a little more at ease with alone but I don't know that it is the complete reason for me not always being sad to be alone.
I think the answer to these two questions is easier than the question itself. lol... It is the person it involves, their lifes situations and where they have been and are in their lives. And I think that to make each of the two situations not such a terrible place to be, a person simply has to take each situation and make it a place to learn and grow...

Does alone make sadness or does sadness make alone?

some good points..I am happier with some one but have spent a lot of time alone..which didn't bother me until the last while but it's beginning to
we do enjoy some quiet time and away from others time, but in truth we dio need people and wiithout them it IS lonely.. Thank you so much for reading this and I wish only good things for you.
I enjoy my time to myself a lot. I have been sad a lot lately, but I don't think it is because I am without companionship. One can be in a huge crowd of people and still feel alone. Yes, at times it is lonely, but I think everyone gets lonely at times, even if they are always with people. I don't necessarily think that being alone automatically means you will be sad.
I hope that made sense, my new med is making me a bit mentally foggy.
I hope that you are doing well and I wish you many blessings.
Peace,
Jane
jane how wonderful to see you here. I thank you for this. Your words make perfect sense to me and I do understand them. Being bipolar sometimes brings us to answer questions differently but I also think it gives to us a Range that few can call their own.
Alone time is not simply wanted but for me, it is needed very much. I know that you understand those words. Being alone does not always bring with it a sadness and often brings to us time to regroup, as they say. Too often, I too find myself standing amongst 30 people and swearing I could look up and not see one single person. Crowds do NOT always = feeling surrounded. thank you for your words and for reading this. It is always appreciated and encouraging. Always Darrel and i did leave you a little note at your site a day or two ago. Wondering how you are and letting you know that "this" guy in Iowa is thinking about you, praying for you and here for you, Always.... Hugs, Darrel
Darrel,
First I must say you had a wonderful marriage. If in 24 years you never went to bed angry with each other that is a blessing. As for me I guess I'm not so lucky. I believe I have a good marriage but yet something is missing, communication which to me is so very important. Well you already know so much about me I guess I don't have to explain. I think you can be surrounded by people and still feel alone and sad. But at the same time I believe you can be alone and be happy. Does this make any sense to you.

It makes perfect sense to me sweet friend. Love seeing you here and I am glad that you take time to read these. My marriage was good and our Love endures forever. I was blessed more than any man ever deserved. Thank you for your always faithful friendship and huge HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS to you. Always, Darrel
